With exactly three years to go until its July 14, 2028 opening, the LA Organizing Committee released its first day-by-day event schedule on Monday (July 14). While adjustments may follow, the core framework is now set, covering 50 sports or disciplines.

Key details from the schedule (dates include rest days):

  • Early-start team sports: As tradition, baseball, cricket, football, handball, field hockey, and rugby sevens will kick off first on July 12—two days before the opening ceremony.
  • Extended competitions: Basketball (5×5) leads with an 18-day run (July 12–30), followed by field hockey (17 days) and handball (16 days).
  • Shorter events: Trampoline gymnastics (July 20) and surfing (July 15–18) have the briefest schedules, at 1 and 4 days respectively.
  • Oklahoma City events: Canoe slalom (July 14–22, 9 days) and softball (July 23–29, 7 days) will be held outside LA.

This schedule offers early planning tools for fans and athletes, balancing long-running team sports with compact individual events. As preparations advance, the 2028 Games are taking shape—blending tradition with the logistical demands of a global multi-sport event.
